Loïc Delorieux, from the writing of fire to the moment of ignition

Loïc Delorieux: Writing with Fire through Precision, Emotion, and Excellence

In the world of pyrotechnic performance, certain roles require balancing dimensions that might seem opposing: inspiration and rigor, creation and safety, artistic sensitivity and absolute mastery of the field. Loïc Delorieux operates precisely at this point of equilibrium. At ARTEVENTIA, he is among those who imagine, structure, and carry the show to its most decisive moment: when the creation comes to life before the audience.

As a designer and firing lead, he accompanies shows from their initial writing to their technical implementation on-site. His role consists of imagining, preparing, coordinating, and then supervising the moment when everything transitions into reality. It is a high-responsibility function where every detail counts, yet the objective remains the same: to transform an intention into a shared emotion.

A Vocation Born of Fascination and Encounters

Before joining ARTEVENTIA, Loïc worked for several other pyrotechnics companies. These experiences allowed him to acquire solid field knowledge and discover different approaches to pyrotechnic displays. This career path gradually shaped him, providing him with a technical culture, a comparative perspective, and a fine understanding of what constitutes a quality performance.

His entry into this universe was not merely a professional path; it is rooted in a long-standing fascination. From an early age, Loïc was drawn to this unique blend of technique, emotion, and artistic creation. By discovering the behind-the-scenes world of pyrotechnic shows, he quickly realized he wanted to evolve within that world. Two childhood friends, already involved in the profession, played a decisive role in this discovery. Through them, he gained a closer look at the reality of the field, the passion driving those who create these events, and the human richness hidden behind every show. It was this immersion that truly sparked his vocation.

Loïc has been part of the adventure since the founding of ARTEVENTIA. He has seen the company grow from its beginnings and has participated in its development through numerous projects. This long-term loyalty also speaks to his commitment: a presence built over time, at the very heart of the firm’s identity.

Designing, Structuring, Securing, and Bringing to Life

Loïc’s role in creating shows is both artistic and technical. He participates in the design of the displays, the choice of pyrotechnic effects, their synchronization with music, and all the technical preparation necessary for the project’s success. As firing lead, he also supervises the installation, safety, and triggering of the show. In other words, he is present in both the writing and the execution, from the initial intention to the moment everything becomes concrete.

His involvement begins very early, during the writing phase. This is where he contributes to building the show, making artistic choices, and structuring the sequences. This upstream positioning is essential: it allows the show to be conceived with global coherence, articulating creative vision, technical feasibility, and emotional impact.

What fascinates him most about his profession is the possibility of transforming an idea into a real emotion for the audience. He deeply loves the blend of creativity, technical precision, and the adrenaline of a live event. These three dimensions perfectly summarize the nature of his position: imagining with sensitivity, preparing with method, and then experiencing the moment with intensity.

A Creative Profession under High Responsibility

To practice this profession, Loïc mentions essential qualities: rigor, creativity, the ability to work under pressure, teamwork, and anticipation. In pyrotechnic performance, nothing is ever left to chance. Behind a few minutes of representation lies immense preparation, continuous concentration, and total responsibility, particularly regarding safety.

The most demanding part of his work lies precisely in managing the pressure before the firing and the responsibility that safety entails. Each show requires considerable preparation, and one must simultaneously remain ready to handle unforeseen events in real-time. This permanent demand is at the heart of the profession, but it never detracts from the artistic dimension. On the contrary, it is its indispensable condition.

Shows that Leave a Mark through Scale and Emotional Truth

Among the shows produced with ARTEVENTIA, Loïc cites two particularly powerful memories: the international competition in Da Nang on one hand, and the Fête du lac in Annecy on the other. Da Nang left an impression on him as much for the welcome and organization as for the final victory, while Annecy impressed him with its technical scale and the extraordinary dimension of the show. Two very different experiences, but each embodying in its own way the most powerful results pyrotechnics can produce when taken to a very high level.

In Da Nang, one moment particularly touched him: the integration of Vietnamese music into the show. The audience’s reaction to this sequence was, he says, incredible and deeply moving. This memory says a lot about his way of viewing fire: not as a simple visual demonstration, but as a language capable of resonating with a culture, a context, and a collective emotion.

He also holds a strong memory of the opening display for Les Masters de Feu last year. It was one of the first times he had designed a show for such a large audience, and the very positive feedback he received gave that moment a special importance in his career. A significant milestone, at once human, professional, and symbolic.

The reason he appreciates large international stages as much as more intimate shows is that he sees them as two forms of relationship with the audience. The former impress with their scale, while the latter often allow for a more direct, sensitive, and almost more immediate connection. In both cases, what matters is the sincerity of the bond created.

A Vision of Performance as an Immersive Narrative

For Loïc, ARTEVENTIA’s artistic signature rests on a constant desire to create immersive, elegant, and emotional shows, driven by true artistic and technical standards. This definition reflects his own sensitivity: he places as much importance on the emotional impact of the show as on the precision of its construction.

According to him, what distinguishes the company’s shows is the attention to detail, the quality of synchronization, innovation, and also the desire to tell a story through each creation. This idea of narrative is essential. It goes beyond mere visual performance to place the show within a trajectory, a rhythm, an intention, and a memory.

Regarding the evolution of pyrotechnic performance, Loïc imagines a future where complementary technologies—drones, light, lasers—will take an increasing place in the construction of visual experiences. He sees this as a natural evolution, a way to broaden the narrative field and creative possibilities. However, he also clearly states that pyrotechnics will remain at the heart of the show. In his view, it is pyrotechnics that carries the emotion and impact, and it will remain the central element around which these new forms of staging will be articulated.

A Firm Founded on Trust and the Collective

What Loïc appreciates most about teamwork at ARTEVENTIA is the trust between people and the sharing of a common passion. For him, a successful show is always the result of true collective work. A simple phrase, but one that summarizes the reality of these professions: nothing is built alone, and the final quality rests on the human strength of the whole.

He describes the spirit of the firm as highly professional, driven by a shared passion for performance, but also as a kind of family, where team spirit and solidarity play an essential role. Everyone moves in the same direction, with the desire to do well and create quality shows together. This dual dimension—excellence and proximity—seems to deeply define his way of experiencing his profession within ARTEVENTIA.

Creating the Ephemeral so that it Endures

If he had to summarize his profession in one sentence, Loïc would say: “Creating ephemeral emotions that remain long-lastingly in the audience’s memory.” This formula undoubtedly summarizes the essentials. It speaks to the brevity of the show, its affective power, and the very specific ambition of fireworks: to leave a mark in a few minutes, then continue to exist in memory.

When the show begins, he always feels a great deal of adrenaline and concentration. It is a suspended moment, where all the preparation work suddenly takes shape. Then comes the moment when the audience discovers the result: an extremely rewarding instant in which he fully gauges the emotion transmitted by the show. This shift between internal tension and audience feedback is among the most powerful sensations of the profession.

Outside of shows, Loïc draws inspiration from travel, music, and cinema. Travel allows him to discover other cultures and artistic sensitivities. Music occupies an essential place in his work, as it structures the emotion of the shows. As for cinema, it inspires him through its way of telling stories and staging emotions. These three sources naturally nourish his creative universe.

To describe ARTEVENTIA in three words, he chooses: creativity, passion, and team spirit. Three words that, once again, faithfully depict his own way of approaching the profession.
