The objective is not to juxtapose a drone show and a fireworks display, but to build a single visual narrative capable of accompanying the evening’s rising intensity.

“Marseille immediately imposes a very particular reading. We aren’t just working with an empty sky: there is the Vieux-Port, the facades, the boats, the Bonne Mère in the distance. The entire city becomes part of the scenery,” explains Édouard Grégoire, Artistic Director of ARTEVENTIA.

The show is part of a broader end-of-year program designed to bring the city to life during the holidays, but it must also exist as a powerful moment in its own right. Here, the creation plays with perspectives, Marseille landmarks, and the depth of the landscape to create a dialogue between several artistic languages within the same space.

When drones become a medium for staging

Le Noël Marseillais 2025 fully illustrates the Sky Choreography™ concept, developed by ARTEVENTIA to treat drones as a true language of performance.

They are not used solely to draw shapes in the sky. They become mobile points of light capable of creating volumes, punctuating a sequence, occupying depth, or sustaining an image long enough for the pyrotechnics to extend, pierce, or dissolve it.

“What interests me about drones is not producing a series of pictograms. It is their capacity to become a scenographic material. They can hold an image, create a very slow movement, and then let the pyrotechnics bring something much more organic and instantaneous.”

This complementarity is at the heart of the creation.

The geometric precision of the drone and the spontaneity of fire do not obey the same rules. The former works with time and controlled movement; the latter brings a more brutal energy, a texture, and an almost immediate disappearance.

Their encounter allows for a different way of writing the sky.

Marseille as a natural backdrop

In Marseille, the urban dimension of the show is essential.

The Vieux-Port constitutes both an open space and an extremely identifiable setting. The city rises in tiers around the basin, spectators are spread across multiple vantage points, and Notre-Dame de la Garde remains a constant presence on the horizon.

The creation must therefore function at various distances.

Certain tableaux are designed to be immediately legible from the quays. Others seek greater verticality and depth in order to exist on the scale of the panorama.

“In such a powerful landscape, the best choice is not necessarily to occupy the entire space. Sometimes you have to let the city breathe. Marseille already possesses an extraordinary natural scenography; our work consists of dialoguing with it rather than trying to cover it up.”

This attention to place aligns with a broader philosophy of the ARTEVENTIA Creation Office: starting from the site, its identity, and its architecture before determining the necessary technical means.

The show is not merely superimposed on Marseille.

It is written for Marseille.

A hybrid creation conceived as a single movement

ARTEVENTIA is working on this project with Magic Drone, a partner specialized in aerial technologies, to build a coherent choreography between light movements and pyrotechnic sequences.

This work begins long before implementation.

It is necessary to determine heights, rhythms, travel times, transition zones, points of convergence, and the way in which each discipline will gradually give way to the other.

“The most important thing is to never give the audience the impression that they are watching a drone show first, and then a fireworks display. From the moment the two seem separate, we lose the very idea of Sky Choreography™.”

The musical rhythm obviously plays a central role in this construction. The images must be able to develop, breathe, and sometimes surprise without the technology taking precedence over emotion.

It is this shared composition that allows the show to transition from a very precise light image to a more expansive pyrotechnic sequence without breaking the narrative.

A new way of inhabiting the sky

Le Noël Marseillais 2025 is part of a broader evolution of major urban spectacles.

The sky is no longer just a space in which effects are projected. It becomes a true three-dimensional stage, capable of simultaneously hosting movements, shapes, trajectories, colors, and very different materials.

For ARTEVENTIA, this evolution does not mean that technologies must be systematically multiplied. Above all, it opens up new possibilities for artistic composition.

A drone can create anticipation.

An image can settle in slowly.

A pyrotechnic sequence can then break it abruptly.

A transition can link the sky to the architecture or to a monument.

And sometimes, the best choice consists simply of leaving a few seconds of emptiness before the next image appears.

Le Noël Marseillais 2025 thus becomes a testing ground for this hybrid composition, in which technologies no longer seek to exist separately.

Between the Vieux-Port, the city, and the sky, drones and pyrotechnics build a single choreography.

A Sky Choreography™ designed for Marseille.

Photo credits: Frédéric Lepla & Arthur Lepla

[89,67,68
85,72,71,90
post-4832","nos-grands-moments","type-nos-grands-moments","status-publish","hentry","etiquettes-drones","etiquettes-event","etiquettes-fireworks","moments-hybrid-monumental-creations","moments-monumental-creations","moments-pyrotechnic-shows","moments-sky-choreography
["GET
