Nathalie Legrand, the discreet rigor in service of the show

At ARTEVENTIA, there are those we see in the field, at the heart of the shows’ intensity, and then there are those who make it all possible behind the scenes, with unwavering rigor and a rare sense of teamwork. Nathalie Legrand is one of these essential pillars.

As Head of Administration and Accounting, and also a manager, she has been part of the ARTEVENTIA adventure from the very beginning. Her job, however, is not limited to numbers or files: it involves holding together all the invisible mechanics that allow a show to exist, under the best human, logistical, and regulatory conditions.

A rich career, combining management, field experience, and high standards

Nathalie’s career reflects her character: unique, dense, built at the crossroads of several worlds. A freelance pyrotechnician since she was 20, she also holds a degree in art history, a pharmacy technician diploma, and training in SME management and accounting. In addition, she spent fifteen years as a manager of an automotive garage, followed by ten years as administrative and quality manager in the aeronautical and railway metallurgy sectors.

All these experiences have forged in her a valuable quality: the ability to navigate between precision, adaptability, and a concrete sense of organization.

Her entry into the world of pyrotechnic shows happened naturally, through encounters. There was Pierre, of course, and this discovery of the profession “from the inside” during a memorable first show: the Fêtes de Nuit in Versailles. A foundational, almost initiatory experience, which gave another depth to what she already intuitively perceived. Because long before that, in high school, Nathalie already enjoyed playing the “stage manager” for an amateur rock band.

Like a harbinger.

A central role in the life of the shows

Within ARTEVENTIA, Nathalie handles all administrative tasks, as well as organizing the pyrotechnicians’ daily lives: meals, accommodation, practical coordination, regulatory monitoring… Everything that needs to be precise, ready, framed, and anticipated.

Her role requires thinking of everything, often simultaneously, and always with great flexibility. Because in this profession, no two shows are truly alike. Contexts change, rhythms change, constraints change. One must constantly adapt, keep a cool head, and proceed methodically.

The most demanding part of her job? Without hesitation, regulation. Administrative declarations, transport legislation, various obligations: a set of rules as indispensable as it is complex, requiring constant vigilance.

And yet, behind this highly structured dimension, Nathalie never strays far from the artistic gesture. She sometimes offers her perspective on soundtracks or artistic briefs. A way of being fully connected to creation, even from behind the scenes.

Witnessing the show come to life, after collective effort

What she is most passionate about in her job is precisely that moment when everything converges. The show then becomes the culmination of everyone’s efforts, the visible form of a collective work that is often long, demanding, and discreet.

When the show begins and the audience discovers the result, Nathalie feels both apprehension and joy. The apprehension of the decisive moment, no doubt. And above all, the satisfaction of seeing the audience’s reactions, perceiving the applause, and feeling that the emotion is conveyed.

She summarizes her profession with a very apt phrase: “A backstage job in a world of light.”

That says it all.

Strong memories, between emotion and admiration

Among the shows that have most impacted her with ARTEVENTIA, Nathalie naturally cites Annecy, but also Da Nang and Montreal, even if she could only experience them via video. These references attest to the company’s growing scope and the diversity of stages it addresses.

Certain moments have particularly moved her. For emotion, she mentions the Royan cascade. For the impression of power and mastery, the closing fire of the 2018 Masters remains a strong memory. She also recalls several passages from the Nuits de Chambord, where the encounter between artists and techniques produced, in her words, a true ensemble.

She also highlights the special atmosphere of the Masters audience: an engaged, enthusiastic audience, happy to be there, attentive and benevolent. A quality of reception that greatly contributes to the experience of a show.

While major international stages represent a form of recognition for her, she also acknowledges that some more intimate shows sometimes allow for a stronger proximity, almost a feeling of being “in” the show oneself.

A clear vision of the ARTEVENTIA signature

For Nathalie, ARTEVENTIA’s artistic signature is based on refined, sensitive writing, capable of playing with emotions and fully engaging the audience. A vision of the show that is not limited to effect or technical demonstration, but seeks a true narrative.

What distinguishes the company, according to her, is precisely this alliance between demanding artistic writing and highly sophisticated technical execution.

Her perspective on the evolution of pyrotechnic shows is particularly interesting. Yes, hybrid forms will continue to develop: drones, light, laser, immersive devices… because the global spectacle is becoming increasingly dominant. But she also suggests not losing sight of another, perhaps more audacious path: continuing to explore pure pyrotechnics.

According to her, there is still much to invent, much to research, much to propose. And it is precisely there that a true difference can be built. Tomorrow, simple figurative displays with drones will undoubtedly be widely mastered by many players. True uniqueness will come from elsewhere: from writing, from research, from a unique way of innovating.

A strong, lucid, and profoundly stimulating conviction.

Team spirit as a given

What Nathalie loves most about ARTEVENTIA is that the word “team” is not a slogan, but a lived reality. Everyone has their function, their field of action, their responsibilities, but all move in the same direction, with a shared goal.

She describes a company where everyone contributes their efforts to the whole, with a genuine feeling of being part of a group. A collective dynamic that matters as much as the final result, and which gives each project its human coherence.

The light… and what inspires it

Outside of shows, Nathalie draws inspiration from worlds that resemble her: music, the sea, the wind, museums, castles… A contemplative relationship with the world, attentive to beauty, atmospheres, and the traces left by art and places.

Perhaps this also nourishes her way of being at work: a calm, deep, sensitive presence, focused on what connects things.

If she had to summarize ARTEVENTIA in three words, Nathalie would choose: emotion, creativity, expertise.

Three words that, in any order, already tell much about the spirit of the company.
