Backstage — “Ode to the Moon”, the 2025 Fête du Lac d’Annecy by ARTEVENTIA
Behind the visual and sound magic of Ode to the Moon, the show that lit up Annecy Bay on August 2, 2025, lies meticulous preparation and an artistic creation conceived as a truly immersive story.
An ambitious stage narrative
Under the artistic direction of Édouard Grégoire, ARTEVENTIA designed Ode to the Moon as a visual and emotional fresco in six acts, lasting 70 minutes. Where many see a fireworks display, the team sought to offer a sensory narrative, built around a poetic dialogue between the lake and the Moon.
This story is supported by music carefully composed around 30 pieces, as well as vocal performances by renowned actors, enhancing the show’s immersive dimension.
Logistics and technical preparation
Behind-the-scenes preparation lasted several days, involving precise coordination between artistic and technical teams.
• 20 experienced pyrotechnicians were mobilized to prepare the installations on the water.
• 124 firing points distributed across nearly 900 meters of pyrotechnic display were positioned on the lake.
• More than 10,500 synchronized firing commands were programmed to ensure perfect precision of the effects.
Water jets, lasers, lighting projectors and floating devices were conceived as narrative elements in their own right, interacting with the explosions, the Luminéoles and the batucada percussion to create a coherent visual language.
A shared creation
With more than 150,000 spectators gathered around the lake, Ode to the Moon established itself as one of the highlights of the Annecy summer, combining ARTEVENTIA’s expertise with the site’s natural interaction.
The show is not merely a fireworks display: it is a collective work in which every profession — pyrotechnicians, lighting technicians, sound managers, aquatic device pilots — contributed to bringing an exceptional visual narrative to life.
